Is there anyone using any health insurance coverage offered through AKC by Markel Insurance Company? They have several plans and the best one covers the dog only up to 9 years, which I think is ridiculous.
What’s the average cost for vet per year, if you just consider regular check ups and shots?
Below is a link to the different plans.

I ask the vet who is training three of her gsd and also her husband who is training two about the health insurance issue . They are both members of my club and the husband is a club level helper. Their reply was to avoid the insurance plans that are offered cause they do not cover the usual expenses associated with raising a dog. Their advice was to set 5k aside in a savings accout to be used in the event of a catastropic health event. Pet plans as health plans have deductables and expenses they do not cover. If you can not set 5 k aside then start saving it. If it is not used for a catastropic event you still have the money for a rainy day as you would kiss all the insurance premiums goodbye. Every premium payment is more money towards savings . well that is just my opinion and like arses everyone has one. have a good day

My vet has an insurance plan, just watch the bills go thru the roof !!
Haven't we had enough with human insurance and health care costs?
Its legal theft and a good cover up for gouging.
I think in both situations you'd be better off putting a little money aside in an account.
Insurance is a sick twisted form of gambling which always favors the house.
My two cents.
