Well I just have to brag a bit. My six month old pup was more into playing ball then chasing a group of deer yesterday. He saw them and I had to repeat no a couple times, but then he went about retrieving his ball for me. I know it's nothing great, but I was definitely pleased to see him respond in this manner.

What a good dog, keep up the good work

It is great that he would respond to you instead of following his instincts like many dogs would. Shows that you two must have a great bond.

It's very good of your puppy to listen to you instead of taking off after the deer. You are doing a good job with him. I know a few of mine wouldn't care what I say to them, they would have gone after the deer for fun.

Mine would only stay until the deer ran, then its all assholes and elbos...lol
The difference is mine have actually tasted fresh venison. And oh how they love the chase.
I'd be lucky if I could get mine to stay one out of three trys.
Its a good distraction for training chicki, good work.

Thanks guys! I'm real happy he listened... because for one thing I would not put up with him going after them and ignoring me. And it would have meant that I would have had to go walk him down. Something that I would have hated to do. So I'm very glad he listened as well. Don't mean that to sound harsh, I treat my dogs really well...but one thing I insist on and that is that they listen to me.
thanks again

I'm afraid I might have taken advantage of the moment to further proof the pup with the sound of rifle shots.
