Hi, does anyone have any tips for introducing dogs to a cat?

I'm working on it with a puppy and an adult cat. I think it'd have been easier with a kitten and an adult dog. The puppy runs at the cat wants to play, but the cat gets freaked out and charges back. I have to stand between them all the time. I'm against de-clawing the cat and just waiting to see what will happen when the puppy matures a little bit.

Try putting a towel in with the puppy and cat over night and switch towels the next day, that can help with merging the scents. We have done that when adding another dog or cat to the mix and its always worked out well. We also use a leash in the house to correct any playing/roughhousing with the cats our dogs realize the cats rule in this house!
