prasac, the only thing that i can offer is to be very carefull with the amount of kelp cause it is fairly high in iodine which can affect the thyroid.

you do not say in which form you have the alfalfa and kelp.

Both are a great source of minerals and vitamins and in commercially prepared supplements destined for dogs only small quantities are needed eg 2 x tsps per day max.

Kelp should not be given to dog with thyroid issues because of its high iodine content.

Talk to some more people and take advice on dosage. My take is give 1/4 teaspoon once or twice a week in food.

Dosage will depend on the potency of the mix you have. I feed my gsd the Greenark kelp and alfalfa mix and that is 1 teaspoon per day.

I have it in powdered form from Leerburg. As far as I remember, the packet says 1/4 tablespoon one or twice a week. any takes on that?

I have checked leerburg's website as well. They say that they feed their gsd's 1 teaspoon every day (not tablespoon, sorry!!). Would that be advisable cuz I am in India & I am not sure if the weather conditions are condusive enough.
