Help needed - Page 1

My 2yr GSD had the runs and he isrunning aut lot of blood from his rectum. Please if you have any suggection please let me now. Last night i gave him a soup bone to eat.

Please get your dog to a vet immediately, sounds like parvo, which can kill a dog within 48 hours.
Or it could be something he ingested.......

Take your dog to an vet emergency clinic right now!  This is potentially very serious but only a vet can tell you what's going on. Don't wait.

Sounds like parvo again, and hope all comes out ok.remember it can take there life fast ,so straight to vet and hope for the best. Let us know.

Is this person saying that he gave the dog a soup bone and then this happened or did it happen before the soup bone?These boards never cease to amaze me,You see your dog running blood,according to this guy and you come to a board INSTEAD of going to the Emerg.Im not meaning to sound like a jerk but WTF man,this poor dog could be suffering and at a point where minutes count.What are people thinking.I feel bad for this guy but i somehow feel more for the poor animal that cant bring himself to the Vet.I guess with age comes that even shorter fuse.

I hear you young lady.Im just a little ticked that someone would even  have to come with a question like that in that particular medical situation.I feel bad for what i said but someone has to voice out for the voiceless I guess.And no im not some bleeding heart but come on.I hope they let us know how this turns out for this GSD.

Hi Domenic: Yes, people dont know that if they are not experienced and know their dog better, why ask us when it gets that bad...This morning should have told him,,,get out the flagyl,,,if he had diahrea early  or if a piece of bone could have scratched the intestine, or a piece is lodged...hope it was a raw bone not a cooked one...raw bones are pliable.

Everyone needs to keep flagyl on hand..it is antiobiotic and  will slow the diahrea immed and keep infection from taking place..never be without it and at the first sign of diahrea get started..wont hurt the dog and the vet can then act and give appropriate meds from there.
