Two days ago was the first snow in Minnesota. I had one of our very high drive 7 month old females out in the dark with only a head-light on my stocking hat for light. It was perfectly quite as the big snow flakes fell silently to the ground in a clearing in the woods. Evi, my girl, stood motionless looking at the flakes in the beam of light. She reached her head high, opened her mouth wide and caught snowflakes by letting them fall gently into her mouth. What a perfect moment to be remided of the beauty of the little things. My German Shepherds seem to find so many perfect moments to enjoy life. I learn from them every day. Anyone else have any perfect moments to share? I could write a book.

I'm growing out a showline puppy, who comes to work with me every day. When I drive, she tends to wrap her front leg over my shoulder (from behind me) and rest her head against me so I will reach up scratch her opposite cheek. It's the most precious thing.

I love the picture. German Shepherds and snow just seem to go together. Oh how the Southern dogs must envy ours!! One dive off a snow bank, one roll in the snow, chasing snow balls, tracking mice under the snow cover, an unexpected fall on the ice and the look if anyone saw (same look I give my dogs when I hit the ground), puppies crowding your leg while doing their business trying to use you as a wind-block, dogs with pure white muzzels from eating snow -- and one of my favorites -- truly exausted German Shepherds that come in the house and never move for hours until they see you put on your boots again. Then it starts all over. Yeah for winter!!!!!!!!!

Here is one of those moments caught on film by the Dad of our youngest club "member". This is my pup Tunguska at 10 months old. Little Jackson and Tunguska just "connected" in their very own world, so pure, clear and precious. A moment of absolute trust.
You cant tell that just minutes before Tunguska run into a scuffle with the farm dog, a cattle dog mix.
