a groomer just told me that a compared to a bl/tan or sable..

solid black german shepherds are known to have skin problems

is this possible?

i told her it could be the enviroment, the diet, who knows??

just want to hear from the solid black owners out there,

cause yes,

i am probably buying a solid black puppy

To be blunt.... your groomer does not know what she is talking about:)

I have one black, a bi-color (mostly black) and 2 black fosters... no skin problems.

I had a solid black she never had skin problems,

now that you mention it, I find that of all the solid blacks I've met, they have extra shinny
very healthy coats!

Here's some black pups they are half sisters and they sparkle!

I have a three and a half year old solid black female, who has always had a gorgeous shiny healthy coat. No skin issues. (Knocking on wood here) :o)

Now my black & red boy Samson is another story.

i have a black and his coat is health and shiny you will never find it like this on a black and tan or sable dog.health issues got nothing to do with colour of the dog.

GROOMER HAS COTTON BETWEEN THEIR EARS

. OUT OF ALL THE GSD I HAVE BOUGHT, THAT I DID NOT BREED FROM MY OWN HEALTHY LINES, THE BLACK GIRL I HAVE NOW HAS NEVER BEEN SICK , AND IS SLICK, GORGEOUS SHINY HAIR , SKIN AND UNLITIMATE BODY..SHE DOESN'T GET FLEAS IF OUT , AND SHE DOESNT SCRATCH OR EVEN HAVE WAX IN HER EARS.

NICK VOM LASCHER HAUS, ORTHOS TIEKERHOOK(WHICH SOME TIEKERHOOK LINES DO HAVE SKIN PROBLEMS) AND VEDOR V FOURNIERMUHLENBACH AND KIRSCHEUSCHROT , & KORBELTAL  ARE SOME OF HER LINES.

I THINK ONE OUT OF 5 DOGS HAVE ALERGYS TO ONE THING OR ANOTHER .I DONT THINK COLOR HAS MUCH TO DO WITH IT.I  THINK IF YOU MENTION THE COLOR BLUE HERE YOU WILL FIND MOST PEOPLE WILL SAY THAY HAVE SKIN AND HEALTH PROBLEMS.I PERSONALLY SEE NO PROBLEMS LINKED TO BLACK OR BLUES,ANY DOG CAN HAVE SKIN PROBLEMS NO MATTER WHAT THE COLOR.
