I guess I dont feel so bad about how much I'm paying anymore.
I pay around $360, but that includes
fecal, heartworm test, dhpp, bordetella, 3yr rabies, xrays, digital cd, health cert for a dog that is being sold, 12 months of inteceptor 51-100lbs, and 3 comfortis tablets.
Looking at it now, and I have a few bills from the vet in front of me, x-rays were 121, disk was 5, and if there is an office visit its around 40. My vet doesn't normally charge an office visit because we bring in more then 2 dogs at a time and I assume because my partner and I bring them lots of dogs.
Good luck. Shop around. Each and every vet can charge something different. We have an old time country vet, but with the modern amennities(sp?)

With sedation and for both hip and elbow x-rays my vet charged $225 which is very cheap for this area. I also have an older dog that I knew had HD - I just wanted to see how bad it was getting. He offered to do an x-ray without sedation because she didn't handle the sedation well for her puppy x-ray....if he got a good shot he'd charge me the $85 for the x-ray, if he didn't get a good shot he wouldn't charge me. He got a great shot for me!
He still pushes annual vaccinations and science diet...but
Other vets in my area quoted me $450+ which seemed way too high - and $575 sounds ridiculous!

I got you beat on the high price. I was quoted $612 for OFA hips and elbows. I'm still looking.

I recently paided $ 375 .00 for a 4 limb set of X-rays ( So. NJ area). This also included a few extra films on an elbow that we were focusing in on.

PeWee Valley Vet Clinic near Louisville, KY charges $240 for the entire Pennhip test, including evaluation fee, sedation, etc.
Vet's name is Gerald Meyer. They are VERY good.
I think the last OFA hip/elbow/cardiac and patella I got there was $150 or less....but I paid the OFA fees.

No need to do x-rays....just feed Pedigree Dog Food and hips shouldn't be a problem.
