Okay, I confess, I am this close to buying one! Has anyone got one and does it work?

If this is the route you want to go, personally I think you're better off with a good old fashioned dremel.

Well, I was just thinking, it would be easier to do the job without looking for my darn glasses, and worried that a dremel doesn't have that stop-guard thing.

Good points Beetree, but I would be concerned about what type of quality you're getting at $20 (which also includes the de-shedding comb).  My guess is that if the plastic guard doesn't break off quite quickly, the motor will not be powerful enough to handle the job, or would burn out in short order.

I ordered the Peticure...a little pricier at $69.95 for the pro model.....but it hasn't come yet, sigh. I'll let you know how it works when I get it. Got scratched by freshly clipped toenails just one time too many.....jh

One issue I would be concerned about is finding new sanding bands, as normal sanding bands have to be replaced on my dremel pretty frequently. The other issue is that battery-powered rotary tools are slower (less revolutions per second) and heat up faster on the dog's nail than a regular electric dremel tool.

With a regular rotary tool, you can just zip through, but the battery-powered ones are only good enough (IMHO) for "showring" touch ups...

It would be great if they could just sell the "guards" for rotary tools we already have...

Peticure, I think, does sell the guards alone. I can't remember if the thing I bought has a cord....I kind of think it does. jh

I just bought the small battery powered Dremel and it works GREAT! The guard really isn't needed.

I have a pedi paws that I bought to replace the dremel I couldn't find last week. If you want it I will mail it to you! It's a peice of c*ap!!! It is slow, stops if you put any pressure, the band was dull after two feet and I am very unsatisfied. Go out and buy a dremel, you will be MUCH happier!! As far as the guard, actually it is in the way and I tried taking it off but then the band flings off. GARBAGE!!!!!

Pedipaws is more for little dogs. I had ordered the pedicure a while back. I do not recommend it. Waited a long time for it too. As it finally came, the little screw that thightens the rubber for the band was to short. Trying to screw it in with powerful push, I slipped and run the screw driver straight through my thumb. Ouuuuuuchhhh..... should I write "dumb"???

After that I took the drum from my old dremel and luckely it fit. Used the pedicure after that for several times and actual loved it while it worked. The plastic cap provided some protection from dremeling on my own nails while doing the doggy ones. Then my pup got a hold of the charger and by chewing on it shortened it out. They didnt offer a replacement and the search for one begun, it was difficult as it is a DC to DC. Finally found one on the web. Now the dialer wheel for the different levels of rpm is not working correctly and the tool is running at full speed only, not very pleasent for the dogs as it sounds terrible and makes the nails hot quick. So basical, the idea is good, the quality is a chinese piece of cr**.

Ordered the newly offered plastic cap to screw on certain types of regular dremels. The model numbers that fit are posted on the website. Even while hopelessly over prized, thats the part I found helpful. Will buy a new dremel at Lowes. At least I can bring it back to Lowes if it doesnt work out. I did not want to deal with the return of the pedicure after waiting for it for 6 weeks.
