raising the perfect sport puppy - Page 1

What are the lists ideas on raising sport dogs from puppyhood? Specific games, train vs. dont train, drive building etc...

It's up to individual dog. I believe the best thing to do is start early, I start my as soon as I get them, let say (7-8 weeks lol) and than I observe and try to figure it out what the dog is trying to tell me. I will push it a bit and than let it sly, than push it little more. I believe that most important thing to do at an early age is exposed a dog to as many situation as you can think off, I believe that dog should not be pamper, and allowed to be a dog, and yeah sometimes he might hurt him self but that’s life. I had my new pup out on the field at 8 weeks, guess what she been just getting better no set backs. Most important is to build trust at an early age; it will profit you in the future. Putting dog's in (controlled) stressful situation will benefit in the future and increase the dog threshold, but you need to be careful you need to watch for limitation of your dog and know when to call it a day. There is a lot of schools of thought and there is many ways to skin a cat so pick the one that fits your style and you feel most comfortable with. Good luck.

Remember that your dog will tell you what you need to know as long as you pay attention. :)

BTW there is no such a thing as perfect sport dog every dog has it's limitation, that is why it is (IMO) so imprtant to learn your dog's limitation so early on, the earier you learn it the more likely you will be able to overcome it or work around it. :)
