Hello Everyone,

Question is which you think is more reliable the Penn Hip method or OFA at 2 years?

I have a female and was thinking of having her hips check just for my own pice of mind. Both her parents are rated good, but I know that really doesn't matter sometimes.

The fee's are about the same here in Oregon for both, so that not a concern.

Thank You

Willy,

I did some research into the matter and wrote an article for SchH USA.  If you are interested I can send you a copy of the article in Adobe PDF format.  After reading more than 30 scientific abstracts on HD and the various methods, PennHIP is my method of choice.  This winter I will be driving 3.5 hours to the closest PennHIP clinic to get my GSD's Xrays done, instead of a 10 minute drive to the local vet for OFA.

In any case, read up on the facts and make up your own mind.
