Hi everyone,
I am new to this site, just registered this morning after seeing this blog on the K-9 Cops web site. I didn't realize it was a GSD site until after I had already signed up. I don't have a GSD, but something close, a Belgium malinois. Vela, my mali, is employed by the US Govt., as a narcotic K-9. She is very strong willed and determined, as well as stubborn, but she has a great nose on her! She assisted the state and locals in seizing over 4200 pounds of marijuana a few weeks ago. Anyway, I hope y'all will accept me to the site (since I don't have a GSD), because I do love to talk/hear about working dogs.
Thanks, K9 Lass

Welcome! I am kinda new to this site myself. I was a lurker for awhile and signed up not that long ago, it is a really great source of information and most people here are very helpful. Your dog sounds really great, I have never owned a malinois, but am often amazed at their abilities.

Don't be silly .........................................................you are more than welcome to the site anyway as you will see from their photos and comments there are loads of non GSD owners on the site but plenty of informative and experienced people to far outway the nonsence,
Once again welcome !

Thank y'all for the hospitality! For Two Moons, I didn't, but before I could grab one of the bricks, Vela took a chuck out of it. Maybe that's why she's acting like a typical mali, crazy! It was pretty cool! It was hidden in charcoal, wrapped in a black trash bag, heat sealed and wrapped in black tape. Our x-rays couldn't pick it up, but she could sniff a bag and determine if it was loaded or not. I have waited my whole K-9 career (12 years) for a K-9 like her. That one seizure makes all the bruises and bites worth it! I do have pictures, but I'm not computer literate, so I'll post a couple when I can.
