I just got a 13 mth old on Oct 6 her name was Ranita's Heavenly Angel, she was american line and I got her to show, On Oct 15th she died at 7:57 a.m I watched her take her last breath, her symptoms was on monday the runs which by that evening turned to water but no blood, the next morning at 8 am I took her to my vet for she started throwing up he found 2 whipworm eggs (she was suppose to be on heartworm from her breeder and if so she wouldn't have had that) but no signs of parvo, less than 24 hours after her being in my vet she died, she is at virginia tech now finding cause of death but they said it looks like parvo but will know for sure soon. I have looked up parvo and new strains of parvo which isn't new it is 8 years old and the vaccines the dogs get for parvo protects dogs against what everyone is calling the new strain IF they got their shots and IF they was given at the right times meaning not too close together from the last shot and her breeder is not being a responsible breeder. I had her 7 days before she died 2 days after that. I paid $1000 and I just believe she is money hungry and don't want to do the right thing and give me my money back, I don't want another pup for I don't want a puppy I got an adult dog which is what I wanted. I am at a lost on what to do, I just had to vent here If anyone would like to know her kennel name  just PM me.

Sorry for your loss... poor dog!  Hope you get something sorted.

Once you smell Parvo, you will never forget it.  It is rare for a 13 month old dog to get Parvo.  If a grown dog is ill, or down with parasites, it would make them susceptible.  Did your Vet say why he didn't get your female on an IV when you brought her in on Tuesday morning?

In the past, I have rescued and taken in Pitbulls.  That breed is highly susceptible to Parvo.  In the early 90's an animal rescue dropped of a litter of 4, 12wk old Pitbull pups with Parvo.  In our back room, I had all 4 pups on lactated ringers.  It was touch and go the first day, but all 4 pulled through.  Parvo is a horrible disease and once in your yard, is all but impossible to be rid of, no matter how many gallons of bleach you use.

she never had an oder, that is one thing everyone keeps telling me but she never had a smell to her at all

she was still drinking on her own when we brought her in and still that evening

A dog with Parvo may want water, and drink right up to the point of death.  (Even though it goes right through them).  The bloody diaharea or even the diaharea alone will have an unmistakable stench.  A bad case of worms and dehydration can have the symptoms of your female as well.

How sad, I am so sorry. It would be  unusual for a 13 month old dog to die from parvo assuming she was healthy to begin with and was vaccinated. The post mortem should tell you the exact cause of death.

If this breeder refuses to make good on this dog, and if he or she is a member of the GSDCA and a signer of their breeder's code, I would report him to their ethics committee. I would like to know the name of that breeder. My email address is blitzengsd@comcast.net

Again, so sorry.

Like I said my vet found whipworms in her fecal sample and her vitals was good that day he checked her over.  VT said it looks to be parvo but will know for sure soon. Either way it looks like I am out of a dog and $1000.
