Tonka was my first German Shepherd. He was a German Showline dog. I trained him as
my personal protection dog. I started his training when he was 5 months old when I got him
and continued working him in personal protection until he was 5 years old. At that time I decided
to try the sport of Schutzhund. I got his BH and SchH1 by the time he was 6 years old. He was
a great dog. He loved everyone and was totally environmentally sound. He was also narcotics trained.
He would alert on Marijuana, cocaine and heroin. I retired him when he was 8. My boyfriend loved
this dog too….Tonka and Phil would go to the park every day and play ball.
He was a great dog….I still miss him to this day…he was a once in a life time dog.

Some just leave paw prints on our heart so deep, they never go away! I hope time has made the memories bring a smile to your lips instead of tears to your eyes...beautiful boy.

thanks for sharing that with us, jyl. even as much as i love all the dogs we currently have, there will always be a void in my life that my liebchen filled. we lost her in 2003 and i am still crying over her.

Beautiful photos of a beautiful dog. I am sure Phil misses him too. Part of him is still here in Aiko and the other part lives in the hearts of those who really loved him forever.
I love my pup Pharaoh and couldn't be happier, but, there is a part of my heart that belongs to Shadow (1993-2006) and it always will. It doesn't mean I love Pharaoh any less, but, Shadow opened my heart to dogs. Nothing can change that.

Thank you everyone...I think about Tonka all the time...I am glad that I have Aiko..it help fill the void to a degree. My boyfriend also has a son of Tonka...we are both soooooo glad that we do. I still miss him alot. It has been almost 4 years. I still have a paw print on one side to remember him and a hole on the other because he is gone.
