I notice most of the events are held down South, wish there were some in the northeast.  I like the direction UKC is going with their working titles they offer a nice variety.

Anyone here compete/ title in this venue?   Are there any UKC clubs further North than NC that hold them?

Regards,
Melanie

I dont have a club here but one of our helpers here has been a helper with them since their conception, and another one of their judges is here in Southern VA.  I know there are a fair amount of SDA people in Michigan - but I think that has to do more with the presence of the Premiere being held there and that being the UKC HQ more than anything else.

I am heckling our helper to work on some of SDA titles with me....and I watched him work some dogs in VA (they were up in VA to breed to one of the dutchies up here) and it was pretty interesting.

I kinda stumbled on them by chance - but you should hae a look at their approed helper and judge list - its a little more spread out than the clubs, and you might be able to get someone who isnt necissarily a member of an SDA club to work with you on their titles.

What area are you looking in?  I might be able to ask my buddy if he knows anyone there - he seems to hae a pretty good grasp of where and who to look for.

Hope this helps :)

Thanks, I live in PA.  I have someone to train with but not too crazy about traveling far to trial.  I looked up the clubs on that site and there's one in NJ.  I just emailed him asking if they hold any protection events, the webistes even list is not up for next year yet.

Regards,
Melanie

That looks interesting.  Nothing even close to the Pacific Northwest though.  I'm still going to read more about it.

I have a friend who has trialed with the UKC and he says it is a lot of fun.  I also like their OB better because I think it is harder.  For instance in the CD work you have to honor a dog working and also do the recall over a jump.  By the way there are also a lot of clubs in WI...........that's where my huskey buddy competes and shows..............

vonissk, do your friends do protection or just OB?

fm2410, me too!  I had no clue it existed till someone I started training with suggested I look into it.  He says Andy could do the PD1... I just gotta find a closer place trial than NC.
