well i feel offended because i wasnt named. not really, still a newbie by most peoples terms.
personally, i am a working line guy. the dog must be able to work. conformation and structure play a part. see any thread about form and function. but in the end if the dog has no ability to work, then its structure, no matter how good it looks, means nothing.
we train in schutzhund, as well as other sports.. we also show our dogs in the ring, and when possible get korungs. not so easy here in the central states.
Debbisue,,,, hope to see you some time. we have been down to air capital many times and helped with them as we can. ask about john and joann. im sure you will get a response.
to make the total dog, both count. show and schutzhund. extreme people make extreme dogs. keep it balanced and you will get a balanced dog.

Uber, I started to place a P,S P.S to say that show/sch/sar/work/etc is not the only way to have experience with dogs.
Other experiences should be valued if one can "prove it".
For example, I am not an expert on sch./working, but if someone needs advice on ear infections, coccidia, Am. S/.L, weak ears, yada, yada, yada, then I feel qualified to give advice.
It's the people (like HighDesert) who have done nothing but pump GSD puppies into the pet market) that cause me to go "OFF".
Sorry if I hurt your feelings. I did research your program and it looks like you are serious about GSD.
I did AKC for 25 years and have little tolerance for "fakers".
Best,
Rik

ok
I see where you are coming from RIK. I have lots of experience with many different breeds, and other areas of interest too.
most of what I post I have learned thru trial and error on my part and by listening to the old timers of the breed, from both sides of the ocean.

Jletcher18 didn't mean to leave you out - I haven't been on here long enough to read your comments - Uber seems very passionate - I am assuming a man - by his picture on the side - but if not - no harm meant....Jletcher18 you must have lots of time - show and sch - it is hard enough just training in one....I commend you...

I am first a Schutzhund trainer, 22+ years in the sport and the breed. I used to import and breed a lot of dogs, both show and working lines. Now I have a small private kennel, 7 GSD's here at the moment, 5 mine and two I am keeping for friends. I have two more elsewhere, one off being bred and one a friend is training. I do take outside dogs in for training now and then, but only breed a litter or two a year most years, some years none. My old kennel name was Haus Roecker. I changed it to Frauengarten when I got married a few years ago. I recieved the USA sports Medal in Gold in 1991, probably qualify for the Masters sports Medal, but too lazy to go through all my old scorebooks to find out. LOL
I was out of the sport for awhile when I moved from CA to PA, but I am fairly active again now, enter/attend quite a few events, spend a lot of time training and caring for my dogs.
I am considering applying for my WDA trial judge's license as I don't really make any money in dogs anymore and would like to give back some to the sport I have loved for so long. I think I would be a good judge.
I belong to USA and WDA, and our WDA club, Bosen Kinder Hundesport, (President-by-default) which trains on my field here at the house.
My "About Shelley" page on my website is a few years out of date, but if your interested there's a bit more about me on it:

Uber - 100 percent Texan ? What do you mean - sounds racists'''lol...you talking about Shelley.....
by jayne241 on 19 March 2009 - 00:03
I think Uber is saying *she* (Uber) is 100% pure Texan woman, not Shelley. She (Uber) is not a guy, in spite of her affinity for HP Lovecraft. LOL Those Texans, bless their hearts!

thanks for clarifying that JAYNE241!
yeah, we like HP lovecraft here, and we(my fiance and I) are also big fans of zombie movies :) remember head shots are the best
