Thanks, I followed the link and it was very informative.

The veterinarian said that Maggies' ears did not have mites.  He told Susan it was an "infection" but it appears that Panalog is used sometimes because it is cheaper than a diagnosis.  Shotgun approach I guess.

I think it might be wise to add a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar to her water.

Any suggestions anybody?

I like the 1:1 vinegar in water also as a general cleaner. Sabin has always had ear issues. I think it is puppy spit  getting in them :)

She was wearing an E Collar and he puts toys in it for her.

That is just too sweet!  Did he give her Mr. Gigglehead?

We used to sell "Panalog" but switched to the generic varieties of which there are many (Dermalone being one). It works great for ear infections, hot spots, etc, etc, etc, etc.

One of those things that stays in the First Aid Kit.

You can still buy Panalog for yeast and ear treatment for infections.   Cleaning the ear first is best before treatment.  You can also use Boric Acid 3 tbsp, 16 drops of Vetian violet purple liquid, bottle of either acholol or wich hazel, use as an ear wash fill the ear, let it shake good repeat to make sure it loosens the mess in the inner ear.  Watch as the purple will dye floors, clothes etc.  It kills the infection a German lady in Canada told me about this Blue Ear Treatment it is over the internet for exact doseage, I might be off, u have to sign for the stuff behind pharmacy counter.  No scrip for this, cheap and effective for constant ear problems and feet can be dipped in it if a dog is chewing on them.
