Kalibeck

LOL! I'm not getting rid of him yet, I need someone to steady the walker when I try to go outside, & I won't be able to drive for 5 or 6 weeks, so he's got a little time to redeem himself. I had a right total knee replacement on Thursday, had a complete nerve block of the right leg & when that started wearing off thursday evening---OMG! I thought I was pretty good with pain, but this was a whole new level of pain. You tube has some pretty impressive videos of the operation if anyone wants to see.....little jigs hammered into the thigh bone, then mini chain saws to cut away the bone......eeewwww!  Then titanium prothesis & a high density plastic tray is inserted, cemented to the bone, & then it's all hammered into place, with a big spike down into the tibia to hold the lower platform on. I'm glad it's over. Now the healing process, which is slow. I pray it doesn't get infected. I had a touch of stasis pneumonia from having to lay in 1 position for 3 days, but that is clearing. And the 67 year old gal in the next bed had BOTH of her knees done! Now that's courage! When I think I can't take it another minute, I remember her. Thanks so much for the props everyone, you all don't know how much it means to me! jackie harris

Jackie:  I think many of us know EXACTLY what you are talking about.  Not long ago when I was laid up for a long time, I was shocked at the stuff that was let go or left undone.  While I was recuperating, some days the stuff he didn't do bothered me a hell of a lot more than other days.  When you need to vent, please feel free to do so here, either on the board or in a PM.  It should be enough to have to worry about getting better, let alone wondering how the hell are you going to ever catch up once you do!  Anyways, this will pass, and as I am sure you are painfully aware, it's not so much that they don't care or think it's beneath them, they are just oblivious - until one of the goddamn piles of shit finally falls on their head!

Yes, EXACTLY! Thanks, Sue, oblivious is the word! I think he really does care about me, but that cleaning stuff...that just happens--doesn't it? You mean someone actually DOES that stuff?? And try to explain simple microbiology, like; dirt/dog shit + fresh surgical wound = infection..... nah, that doesn't really happen, does it? DUH! Sigh! He's outside right now, trying to fix the ramp he put up for me.....at a 55' angle!!! jh

Jackie you poor baby!  My hubby does a fair job of taking care of me while I recoup but I know what you mean about the things that don't get done and how it can grate on your nerves (some days more than others.)  Double up on the pain meds, and try to realize he misses his healthy partner.  He sees that things aren't getting done, he just doesn't know how to cope with it.  FIfty years from now who's gonna remember it anyway.  Try not to stress about it, stress will slow the healing process.  Come here and vent then let it go...Ommmmmm...Ommmmmmm... find your inner peace!  Get healthy then be prepared...they always come down with something so they can be fussed over once you're healthy.  Men! It's in their genes, they can't help it...it's the way their mamma raised them, whatever...get that knee healthy so you can kick his behind!

He's really a good egg. Right now Beckett & the pups are very quietly howling to me, it's very sweet, like they're saying, 'we feel your pain.....!' I've never heard them howl so quietly, maybe they're saying...'take a nap!"  I've never heard them do this before..........jh

The dogs know, they can sense your pain.  How sweet they are to communicate this to you.  Awwww!
