I work a flock in NJ that was purchased from Ulf two summers ago. This past summer the flock size was around 140, should be a bit more this summer. I went to the HGH in NY in October and as a handler I didn't find all that much of a difference 140 vs. 219. The main difference is that the dog needs to stand a bit longer for 200 plus sheep to pass vs. 140. or vs. 20 that's in AKC C course for that matter!
I far prefer working my dogs on the larger flock vs. the smaller flock. We do OK on smaller numbers, but my little girl tends to bring the same energy to 20 sheep vs. 200 sheep. Which is a bit too much sometimes.

Over the winter, before I stopped herding and schutzhund, we were working about 70 sheep. I did made it training until 7 1/2 months pregnant though! LOL

Actually live in NJ, so it's not usual for us to be in the 70's in March! Usually it's in the 40's......
