I have black's and one did have problem's but this was an inbred dog and I alway's figured that was his real problem.
My black bitch is a fine dog with no health problem's, she has puppy's by the way...:) Some have white spot's on the chest.

I had a solid black long coat out of Ursus Batu lines and he had awful skin issues, but they didn't begin until he was around a year old-his coat was luxurious and gorgeous before then. He was in an accident that took his life before we could ever figure out a culprit as to what was wrong with him officially with the skin thing. We assumed sever allergies, but 'adult' onset-? I dunno.

My male started out with ear infection's and had rash looking hot spot's under front leg's and inner thigh's at about a year old.
Allergies to certain fish product's. A trip to the vet about every couple of month's.
He grew out of the rash's but he ear infection's kept on coming.
He too has passed on now.

YES-Moons-it never affected him from his head to his front legs(his front part was perfectly clean and clear)-it was always the back end of his torso, rump and back legs. Strangest thing I'd ever seen! We did a couple of dips to see if parasites was the culprit (he was a house dog so that was highly unlikely anyhow). He was on heartworm meds, so usually mange doesn't affect dogs on such-not to the degree he was affected. The lesions were about as big as the bottom of a pop can and would bleed if raked accidentally. He never let on like it hurt or bothered him. But I was sure perplexed and upset about it for his sake.

I just hated to see him scratching, I grew up extremely allergic to poison ivy and remembered the itching that never let up.
I was a test subject for every new treatment they could come up with as a kid, Strangely I grew out of it later in my teen's.
My vet gave him something once that numbed the ear's to stop the scratching, didn't cure it just gave him some relief.
I could tell he appreciated it.

Just because that groomer has bathed one or two black GSDs whose owners probably feed them "kibbles and bits" doesnt mean she knows squat. What a ridiculous thing to say. In fact, I've met more blk/tans and blk/reds with bad skin than I have blacks.
Gratz on the pups two moons.
