On some show I watched on TV.... they give Guiness beer to race horses, (and pregnant woman....)

I believe it was in England......

Although it's not for the birds, I know someone who gave his parrot some and he fell from his perch,

feet in the air, never to rise again!

I have to be careful to keep beer out of reach of some of my dogs. They'd be perfectly happy to drink as much as they could get... Lushes by their German heritage?

Years ago, my best friend and training buddy taught my female, Emma, to go open the fridge and bring her a beer on the sofa in front of the TV when I wasn't home. I came home one day to find punctured beer cans all over the living room, beer on the ceiling, carpet, TV, everywhere, Sue passed out on the couch and Emma passed out on her dog bed. I had to chain the fridge shut for 8 years after that. Didn't save my beer from my friend, but at least it kept Emma sober.

I don't know about the German Shepherds but we caught my Rat Terrier with my mom's wine glass on his head a few days ago.  He must of been really into it to get the glass stuck on his head.  Mom was very upset that he drank her wine.

It's common (or was) practice to give horses guiness or stout in a good mash if they're "poor doers" or if they need building up after / for the hunting season etc.

I confess... mine would quaff anything alcoholic, if allowed, I think it may be the Scottish influence tho'!

Yes, Beer like Guiness was given to the racehorses in England It was a dark beer and full of Malt

The old saying was when i was a lad a Guiness a day keeps the Doctor away

I always maintained that was not always true, It depends on how many you drank

The Light German beer does not have much punch to it, not that i found last weekend, i could sup it down like a glass of Water

But a small Belgian beer has much more kick to it and over here we drink only a half pint at a time

Some of the beers you would not get to drink the fourth one

Drunken dog's fart a lot !!

And fall down regularly...LOL.

A friend used to take his boxer to the river every weekend, and the dog got beer to settle her down,   she had to be watched from falling overboard.

Damned she could stink up a room.
