Uber Land

by Uber Land on 08 November 2008 - 18:11

I had fed Pedigree and Purina for YEARS.  my old chows(I had several get this age) that died at 18 ate nothing but pedigree.  I never really had any luck with the more expennsive foods, either my dogs wouldn't eat it, or they had lose stools (tried Nutro naturals about 8 years ago, gave all my guys the squirts).  I tried Sensible choice, nature's recipe ect.  dogs wouldn't eat it.  they hated Iams and Eukanuba too.  the only other food they will eat is Diamond.

I am slowly changing over to RAW now adays, but I still do not have any problems with someone who wants to feed pedigree or purina to their pets.

I too have used Purina, but only lately.

The old standard Dog Chow from the old day's was crap, my dog's would not eat it.    They have made some improvement but now it is over priced.

I mix it with my standard brand sometime's but I feed mainly a brand called sport's trial high pro.   This is a base and I add what I want, salmon, red meat, veggie's, and so on.

I pay $20.00 for #50 pound's.

No stool problem's, except when we have been eating persimmon's and grass hopper's.

I do the same thing TwoMoons, I struggled with which was the best for a long time, and decided that Purina never hurt my guys at all, they all ate it, and liked it!  I did change about 2 or 3 yrs ago and fed pro plan, then exceed and recently I went back to Purina, and I give raw also.  I pay the same $20.52 for 55# bag.  No loose stools either.

That is because healthy dog will eat anything and will have no problems, dogs with week digestion system or genetics will have always alergies, digestion problem etc. and that is the fact, come on dogs eat their own shit and they are fine :) lol old meat etc. Dog's are not picky eaters, but RAW is the way to go because most of the time no chemical been put in it. I use Vetschoice, and recently tried out Orijen (still am) just to see the diferance guess what so far no differance, except in my wallet Vetschoice cost me 40 for 40lb Orijen 70 for 30, to be honest I don't think I will stay on Orijen, I rather go and buy some fresh meat for my dog with the extra money, I am pretty surre she will be better off 30 bucks can buy a lot of chicken :), and she loves turkey necks lol.

By the way my dogs needs just 2 cups a day on Vetchoice while Orijen like 3 lol talk about savings.

Feeding the troll, eh?

Tigermouse-

You ask me to not name-call and then you are telling me to grow up?

And I seriously want to know what you mean by 11 star dog foods which you refered to in your opening post.

And in regards to Pedigree ingredients, the reason that they are not listed on the website is that they are well known as the best dog food so if the ingredients were freely listed everywhere then other companies would steal the formulas.

And whatever the ingredients are, that is what is best for a canine because Pedigree is scientifically proven to be the best dog food. The owners will sometimes even make decisions that will loose them a huge amount of money simply to better the food for the dogs.

And thank you very much for changing the title of this (rather needless) topic.

I don't see where she listed an 11 star food, never heard of that.  There is a site that does dog food analysis that awards stars, with six being the best.

I don't know that Pedigree is "well known as the best dog food", far from it I would think.  But to not list the ingredients is not protecting anything.  To me that indicates that they source the ingredients from whoever is cheapest at the time and do not want to be held to published information.

That said, if your dogs are doing well on it, by all means, feed it.  The best quality kibble in the world is worthless if the dog will not eat it.  The fact that you believe in what you sell is a good thing.  Try not to be offended that other people may have other ideas.

Here you can find the ingredients. http://www.pedigree.com/01Really%20Good%20Food/default.aspx?attributeName=Format%20Type,primary&attributeValue=Dry%20Food,true   BHA/BHT is toxic, and who knows what kind of meat they use.  Oh look at all the colors they use!!!   Just my opinion, I would rather feed my dogs bird shit over this food.   Pup
