I gotta tell ya,

After seeing a grown man being chased around my backyard with a 3 pound bunny baring his
teeth at him, and trying to bite his leg, we had all we could do but stop laughing, and try to get the
bunny in the net, man ....................he was quick!

I don't know anyone who breeds for blues but I do know someone who unexpectedly got blues. She retired the bitch after this. I don't know what the stud dog's owner did. Color and temperament are not related. Temperament has a genetic component and an environmental component (how they were raised.)

I've never seen a bunny chase anyone, but I have been chased by my own bantam chickens.  They'll tear your legs up with their beaks and spurs.

The only blues I have met have had very poor nerve, however, it was quite clear they did not come from quality breeding.

Mirsamom

Had a good laugh over your post. That bad Bunny would have been Din Dins for me

Reminds me of when i was a young Lad Dad had two Chinchiaa Rabbits abd i put the Buck in with the Doe

When Dad found out what i had done i got a clip round the ear and he made the rabbits into a pair of gloves to use on his motorbike

I had a blue bitch 15 years ago and had issues with her temperment ie; Dogs , People, Rain , Wind ,.....etc!  I covered her with a dog I had whom was not a stud dog just a pet with super temperment and it was mainly to see if she would calm down after pups........ Ha! not so. There were no blues in the litter and all pups had great drive and temperment as I keep in touch with all new owners. I would not keep 1 again Costs as much to keep a good dog as a bad one.( bitch in pic below)

Hi Steve,

I was just going over this old post...

I forgot to mention, that bad bunny did go to a man that inquired about bunnies for din din,

and by then he weighed 5 whole pounds, way more than just an appetizer!!

It was such a relief to have him gone, no more worrying about those horrible bunny attacks

I too have noticed that Blue's tend toward weak nerves and other major issues.  We own a boarding kennel and get several in I can say that everyone of them has some type of major issue.  One is fixated on anything moving chasing lights shadows etc.  He now has no teeth since he also tries to bite at the ground and "catch" the shadows!  Most of the others have fear issues or aggression issues. I know of one local breeder that was breeding to a blue stud he was going through chemo at the time!! I can't imagine how that would affect the pups?  We are in a smaller area so maybe all our blue's are coming from the same breeder??  But after seeing 10 or so blue shepherds with issues I will never be getting one!

I am glad im not the only one who has noticed the issues,

I have never believed that color affects temperament but in the case of blues im not so sure. I have seen another blue sable that has Major temperament issues since i posted this thread. the owner has spent £1000 + on training with no results

the owner is now thinking of having this dog PTS, so sad as he is sooo beautiful I adore blues but would never have one,

there must be a reason for such a large number of these dogs have such big issues,

does it stem from a few dogs that have been over bread ??? or is it just faddy breeding.

god knows but there is something wrong.

has anyone had any good experiences with a blue

Is it the owners?  I've lost count of the owners that have blamed the dog over the years.  If there's a genuine temperament issue... check the pedigree, not the colour!

If someone gets lots of "blues" in their kennels, it's because some pillock in their area is breeding with no regard to temperament/colour or anything else!

Check the breeding!

not in the cases i have seen, one is a canine psychologist and a trainer the others were pet people but v good

and were using correct training methods.

as for the pedigree i glanced at one but cant remember the lines but on first glance looked ok
