IMO, UKC is where its at. Do yourselves & Breed a favor and get rid of the AKC, they destroy breeds, at least working breeds. They offer nothing, except registratoins to puppy mills & Dog show contestants.
UKC Stresses Working ability. Not showing, like the AKC. They have conformation Shows, but Ban professional handlers & showers. They emphasize the working dog. Whether Coon hunts, Beagle hunts, HRC Retreiver hunt trials, Pulling contests, terrier hunts & now Protection tests, which Im interested in learning about.
Ive competed & titled in the HRC Retreiver tests and they are excellent and very professionally organized & done . The registration is also very nice. Im very impressed with the UKC .

Stay away from Metro k9! There is NO club, Bobby will talk your ear off about his club. He has nothing but a flooded field. He will take your money ,Good luck getting training. He is never around to do his job after you give him money. I know this because I gave him $1500 last yr. to train my GSD. Funny because he would not do $750 to start and then $750 @ the end. He wanted the total amount up front. So my stupid @ss gave it to him and I have nothing to show for it. He Said he would train the dog for Protection 1 & Obidience, all of the training that has been done I've learned and done it myself no thanks to Bobby. Now I have to come up with money to get a real trainer to train my GSD!! This sucks!

> What looks good about it is the exercises are all reasonable and obtainable for a dog with decent training.

Hi Melanie! You are a sight for sore eyes.
I have missed you girl!
We need more people like you who have some idea of what they are talking about and actually want to talk about dog sports.
Shoot me a PM. Like to hear what you have been up to.
Take care,
GARD

I was not aware that UKC offered protection titles also. Thank you Melanie for posting this info.

We have some visitors with pitbulls and bull dogs coming to club this afternoon I think have been involved in UKC in NJ. I'll ask them about it. Always interesting to explore different training opportunities, although I never have time to do anything besides SchH training myself. Heck, I don't even have enough time for what I try to do. LOL

Hi guys, I am locaed in WI and about a month ago I traveled to TN to compete in the UKC, FO,P1,PD1 titles. It was a blast. I had more fun doing that then sch because it is geared towards more real protection work. Everything is done with a suit. Also the helpers are told to be hard but fair on the dogs. They really test the worthyness of the dogs. They come at them trying to make them fold.. You give it a try especially if you want to know how good your dog really is in protection work. Thanks Dennis
