From The Kennel Club Calendar and Stud Book, Vol. V, 1878 for the year 1877:
7013. Mermaid.—Mr. C. T. Abbott's, Rydens, Walton-on-Thames; whelped November 22nd, 1875; colour, black and tan head, patch root of tail.
Pedigree: By Merman out of Fluke; Merman, by Diver (No. 532) out of Myrtle (No. 674); Fluke, by Jerry.
Chief Performance: Carlisle, 2nd prize.

This is a dog pedigree, used by breeders and breed enthusiasts to see the ancestry and line-breeding of that individual dog. The pedigree page also contains links to the dogs siblings and progeny (if any exist). For dog owners with purebred dogs this is an excellent resource to study their dog's lineage.
