From The Kennel Club Calendar and Stud Book, Vol. IV, 1877 for the year 1876:
5958. Victor.—Mr. D. H. Owen's, Great Ness, Baschurch, Salop (late Mr. S. W. Smith's); breeder, Mr. S. W. Smith; whelped July, 1875; colour, white, with evenly marked black and tan head and spot on stern.
Pedigree: By Smith's Sting out of Bess by Pantaloon (No. 570,Vol. I.) out of Mischief, by Mac out of Vixen, by Ragman out of Cottingham Nettle, by Old Jock; Sting by Hornet out of Scratch, by Lord Huntly's Bounce; Ragman by Old Trap out of Violet; Chance II. by Old Chance out of Lively.
Chief Performances: Oswestry, 2nd prize; Newtown, 1st prize open class and silver cup in local class.

Possible error in this entry.  Chance II, sire of Pantaloon, is out of Nettle, by Old Trap, not Lively, per Vol. I of the stud book:

530. Chance II.—Mr. W. H. Johnson's, Heathfield, Eccles; breeder, Mr. W. Gamon; born 1870.
Pedigree: By Gamon's Chance (No. 529) out of Nettle by Old Trap (No. 597).
Chief Performances: Manchester, Belle Vue, 3rd prize, 1871; Free Trade Hall, 3rd prize, 1873.

From The Kennel Club Calendar and Stud Book (U.K.), Volume I, 1874:
570. Pantaloon.—Mr. S. E. Shirley's, M.P., Ettington Park, Stratford-on-Avon; once owned by Mr. Hazlehurst.
Pedigree: By Chance II. (No. 530) out of Fan by Tartar.

This is a dog pedigree, used by breeders and breed enthusiasts to see the ancestry and line-breeding of that individual dog. The pedigree page also contains links to the dogs siblings and progeny (if any exist). For dog owners with purebred dogs this is an excellent resource to study their dog's lineage.
