Is this a short or long coat puppy?

Can anyone help recognize if this German shepherd puppy is long or short coat? The puppy is 60 days old. I know that's impossible at the moment be 100% sure, but at least seems to be short or long? This is the puppy and the father, I don't have any pics of the mother, but she is short coat. An image

I would say and guess that is a long coated pup.

No expert, but would say long coat. Sometimes they can fool you and just be nice plush show coats. :)

First photo looks long coat but 2nd hard to say but I will go with long coat.

They all can look kind of floofy at this age but I would say LC. If you definitely do not want LC I would choose another pup. Good luck though with any decision you make. AnY other LC's in the background??

Long Coat. If the head is fluffy like that close to the ears, it's a long coat. I've seen long coats pop up from breedings where both sire and dam are short. As long as both short haired parents carry the long coated gene it can happen.

If you can post photos of the pup head on at 2 & 3 weeks, I can tell you. At this stage, it is impossible to know for sure, but I have never been wrong at the 2-3 week mark.

you are looking for early indicators, which can often be very hard to determine, especially as current Euro s/l dogs are very heavy coated.

I have a friend, SV judge/AKC, 50 years GSD experience, who bred and evaluated a GSD litter in the 80's all as LC. turned out none were.

I used to look at pads and long hair growing between the toes, but for 100%, you just have to wait until they are a little older.
