"Super Dog" puppy program - Page 1

Recently I came across a breeder who uses the "Super Dog" program with their puppies; http://www.vonlotta.com/super-dog-program.html.

Anyone have any experience with this? I'm interested to know if it's just a gimmick or if it actually helps in puppy development.

I think in theory, it should help, assuming it is done correctly. But since we are talking about very young pups, they can also be ruined if done in an incorrect manner, where the controlled stress applied, exceeds the recommended levels.

Here's what I think: If the breeder takes the time to bother doing this program, they're obviously going to take the time to properly rear the puppies.

If you handle and expose your puppies the right way then you don't need this program, which was basically created for litters that are whelped in a sterile environment.

It may be a sales pitch but I don't believe it's garbage. I think a lot of research has been done on this and also with "imprint training" of various animals. I used imprint training myself with my foals and it works.

 

However, I would be more concerned with whether the puppies continue to be handled and exposed to noises, new objects, people, etc....I would look at it as a plus that the breeder is committed to starting the pups off correctly. Thus, like someone said...you can achieve the same results with puppies by proper handling, socialization, and exposure to stimulus. However, this program certainly can't hurt....it's hard to mess up unlike imprint training!

 

I am also of the mindset that you can have quality stock with good genetics but the puppies will fail due to environmental reasons. I have seen it...in the wrong hands good pups can be ruined. Likewise, as someone mentioned....all the handling, exposure in the world won't make bad genetics ever go way. It may be covered up but it will still be there. So, yeah..probably a sales pitch but one that certianly does have successful research behind it and a good first step.

Absolutely 100% certain Super Dog programs make a huge impact on how dogs turn out. It opens pathways in the brain that otherwise never open, enhances immunity and makes for an easier to train dog. We've been using a version of this for our pups since middle 90s. People with similar lines don't get the same results we get. It's part of why our dogs are Select Shepherds :-)

To expose puppies to new things should be a no brainer. I don't get how it's called "Super-Dog" because this isn't even a new thing or something special... it's what good breeders have been doing all along without haven given it a special name.

Did you read the article in link? It's a specific neurological stimulation program that differs from exposing pups to tunnels, ramps, vacuum,etc. The military found it successful and it was later spread to the public....

could this exercises change an imprinted genetically traits, instincts, health? for sure, NOT.
so what a point and why just don't leave the care about pups to their mother as it was always for millennials?
Pentagon could achieve more effective results by spending the cash, allocated for this program, by redirecting it
into good, suitable for their purpose, dogs.
