An image

Capri (V Capri vom Hagenberg) and her grandpups from her son Bravo & Dora von der Gewurzwiese, on a morning walk this summer. She turned ten this past March. I am about to breed her first litter of great-grandpups early next year. It doesn't feel like it was that long ago that I was driving to O'Hare to pick up my first female for breeding, and here she is, almost 10.5 years old. Could not have asked for a better one. She remains the incredible teacher to her grandpups that she was to her own pups.

Fantastic girl; you really got lucky with her and beautiful as ever. Really cute with her g-pups. Nan

Mission says "Happy birthday Grandma!"

She's still one of the coolest dogs I've met. Absolutely adore her - 'Pri is one in a million!

Capri is so beautiful and healthy looking! She surely doesn't look ten years old.

Thank you. She's been very healthy her whole life. You can see in this pic, though, that she had surgery (shaved abdomen and front leg, if you look closely). This was the first major "care" she has needed. She had a mastectomy due to a few very tiny tumors I noticed during her monthly exam (I check all my girls monthly once they're over about 5). They were like pea gravel, and while they were "likely" benign, I decided I couldn't live with myself if I figured they were benign and they weren't, and waited too long to remove. We (my vet and I) decided since she is so very healthy and strong, that it might be more advantageous to take all of it at once in case any of them were malignant, rather than take one at a time, potentially putting her through multiple small surgeries. Major surgery, so a full work-up was done to ensure there was nothing else amiss that would make her a poor candidate for surgery, but she was clear, so we did it in March. Everything came back benign, whew! So, we figure she's good to go for several more years, fingers crossed! Heart  I don't want to think of the day she isn't here anymore.

She was and is a very nice dog that has contributed to the breed in a very positive way!

It's times like this I wish we had a 'like' button for posts! :D

She's looking great, Jenni! Hope you have many more happy years with her.

And how time does fly - seems like just yesterday MY 10 year old female was chewing up carpets and eating all her toys!

I really like that she is still with you, and that the 4. generatIon out of her is on it's way. 👍
