I was wondering if anyone from the SAR community here has any personal experience with, and can tell me anything about this organization? Also, what do you consider is the value of belonging to their membership? Thanks in advance.

Hmmm. This is a surprise, crickets! No SAR people can comment? The cost of the program/training is almost 4K, is this something desirable but not common.... or what?

Anybody know of similar organizations or programs to compare?

Yes, I have. My old team is quite active with the project and it is absolutely worth it.

@BE Thanks for your response. Especially since you are the only one!

I would have thought this site had more SAR breeders/people/LEO's or organizations to attest to Project Lifesaver's value and purpose.

(This post was moved from MAIN, where I had posted it in the hope to get all breeds attention and general exposure.)

Not a problem. Contact the Oswego County SAR Team (http://www.oswegosar.org/) in NY. I am sure they'd love to share any information about Project Lifesaver. They've been using it for a long time quite successfully.

Just for the Mods, Project Lifesaver has nothing to do with Training or Obedience. So it should probably be moved back to Main ;)

Beetree that would be me that moved it when you asked for SAR people to comment.

I will put it back for now but if it does turn into a training chat it will go back to the CORRECT forum for that topic.

My SAR team (Manatee County FL contact person Sheena Byers-Leggett Project Lifesaver) went to Project Lifesaver about 4 years ago.  It has been a great success with the longest time to find a person 40 minutes.  The PL group train monthly once it was off the ground.  They went to solicite donations and do fund raisers to raise money for those who can't always afford the yearly fee to belong.  I would suggest it is a good idea.

Project Lifesaver doesn't involve dogs. However, it involves the SAR Community and K9 Handlers are involved with this Project.
