Guess my Sable Puppy's Color - Page 1

Hello, I have a 13 week old sable shepherd puppy and am curious to what color sable he will end up being. I know sables changes colors like crazy and it's a guessing game until they mature but still am curios to everyone'should thoughts and guess.

It's going to be impossible to tell until the black starts coming back in unless you have a photo of when he was a few days old. I was able to accurately predict where my dogs would be very dark by looking at the newborn puppy photos. (Some people swear by this, others say there's no way of telling until the final coat comes in.)

Then again, there are apparently some pups that were very light that grew up to be pretty dark. (I'm quoting somebody else from a similar topic I read. I haven't seen this myself.)

I'll look his pedigree up and put a link here, but I doubt that there will be a way to tell. Still, it's always fun to guess, huh?

Oh, he's already getting darker.

 

Looks like he'll be black over most of his body to me except his lower legs (pasterns), his ears, and the back of his neck. I think he'll be pretty dark.

I have added a gallery to his pedigree page of more pictures of him as he has grown. One of him at about 5 days old. I wouldn't know if he is considered dark for that age or light. Your thoughts?

He's pretty dark to me. But as I've said many times before, I'm still a novice. Take what I say with a grain of salt. I've seen puppies that were a lot lighter than that, so to me he is dark.
