It's an "outcross" rather than line-breeding, but is quite common. Unless you know enough about any particular dog and what it consistently gives in its progeny, there isn't much value to seeking out a puppy line-bred to a particular common ancestor.
Puppies are a crap-shoot anyway. Genetically yours may inherit next to nothing of the famous ancestor's good points. The fact that both parents are definitely Showline will stand you in better stead if you wish to Show your puppy; otherwise it makes no difference whether your new dog will have "doubled up" relatives, or not. They are all German Shepherd Dogs ! If you want to check on how good and how 'showline' the sire and dam and their bloodlines really are, suggest you put a pedigree for the prospective dog up on the board and link us to it. I'm sure someone will know something of some of the named dogs and be able to advise you further.
