I just got an electricity advertisement when I came on the forum?

Good heavens, you're awfully rude for someone who is using a site that costs them NOTHING...Do you have a job, other than bitching about glitches on this site? Because I'm fairly sure that the site owner and the Admins all have regular, run-of-the-mill full-time jobs so they can pay their bills, in addition to the time they donate to this site. [Yes, I know that the ads here do generate income for Oli, but I doubt they pay enough to cover the costs of running this site AND paying his bills, let alone those of the Admins].

Did you ever stop and think that perhaps the adware has yet again evolved in order to get around the various blocking programs and no-autoplay apps that are presently available, and that's why we're suddenly seeing intrusive ads that autoplay or cover part of page content again? I noticed it this week as well, and not just on this site--I've had some autoplay audio spots bleed through on a few other sites that use Google ads as well, and it really shouldn't be any surprise that technology continues to advance and that sometimes the results are a nuisance rather than a benefit, at least to those who aren't affiliated with the advertising.

If you're having issues, couldn't you just politely contact one of the Admins and let them know what is going wrong? Profane subject lines or cryptic ones like this thread's--it could be about anything, so what makes you think an Admin will even look at your post, since it's a good bet it's just more kvetching from you because this FREE site isn't working like a Swiss-made clock for you RIGHT NOW WHEN YOU WANT IT TO!!!!!
Damn, Nans, you just come off so freakin' entitled--how 'bout you learn to write code in all your spare time, and then volunteer to help ferret out these kinds of wax in the works when it happens?

I know it's not my place to reply to you on this, but I just can't take any more whining and foot-stamping about a service that's provided to all at no cost to those users... Get. Over. It. It's not all about you.

Not only there is no reason to keep posting new threads to say the same thing.

Funny thing about this thread and the other thread is instead of telling an admin, what exactly the deal is - you haven't. Instead these seem like rants. I am more than willing to help but I need to know exactly what is going on. Hexe's post is the first I heard of the ads causing problems. I can't and won't go to Oli until I have very specific details of what is going on and what you have done to try and fix any issues. Oli visits his site with different computers and a mobile, he isn't having a problem so he can't fix something that is not a problem.

 

So, here is the deal - you can PM me specific problems, with screenshots, if possible. In the meantime do not start any more threads about this as they will be deleted.
