Half way through the first video....had to quit, too painful to watch.

Dogs learn very little from having the crap beat out of them by their handlers and trainers. The dog in the first video ( GSD ) is a mess because his trainers and handlers are idiots!!  The second dog ( GSD ) seems to be a good dog in need of better training .. the dog had courage but the trainers and handlers did not develop the dog properly or thoroughly for this type of testing.  The third dog ( Mal ) was a bit of a hand grenade dog with a dose of crazy on the side.  Personally my opinion is that the 1st and third dog had been ruined by their trainers and handlers.  The second dog could be made whole by additional and better training.  When people train dogs using excessive force and brutal methods the dogs lack confidence and trust when forced into strange and new situations with their handlers.  The second dog ( GSD ) showed more trust, focus, and confidence in his relationship with his handler/trainer which is what is needed.  If you put a dog into a new situation against an unknown foe they need to know that it will not end with their trainer or handler beating the crap out of them.  The Mal seemed to be willing to bite one and all including the handler based on how the dog was handled.

That demeanor is not always caused by maltreatment or bad training...sometimes its genetics.

As far as I could tell from the video the first dog ( long hair GSD ) had nearly zero confidence in his handler or trainer in the video. The dog avoided looking at his handler and the way the handler screamed at the dog is the way a lot of over bearing dog beating butt wipes handle their dogs. The dog just wanted to get through the exercises with the least possible beatings from his handler.

I did not watch with the sound on, so you may be correct in you assessment. On the other hand, some dogs just can't stand any pressure.....better off sitting on the couch.

this is a competition in honour of a policeman that died, some competitors are policedogs, some are not, fact is that these dogs and competitors have no clue of what they are going to run into that day , more honest than any trained programWink Smile

Pretty sure the dogs knew nothing of the reasoning for the so called competition. Was the entire BS just for giggles by the handlers?? Maybe they can pretend to throw a ball and then hide it behind their back if they think that is a good idea too?? The dogs were just doing what they knew based on experience and training. The first dog was unsure and stressed and the handler screaming at the dog was not making anything better. The first dog did not trust or have confidence in the handler at all. A pretty stupid "competition" if the dogs were not prepared for it and if the dogs were not prepared to do that type of work. Maybe they were all IPO dogs and were not ready for this scenario which was also fake and unrealistic. Don't you think the third dog knew that with a muzzle on during much of the "competition" that it could not bite or protect itself?? I saw nothing about this set of video tapes that was worthy of praise and running your dogs around on slick floors just for giggles is just stupid.
