I have a friend who has a 3 year old dog with a history of pancreatitis, severe gastritis, GI pain, suspected IBD. Not a GSD, but I am hoping that someone with a GSD with similar issues might have some recommendations for a commercial or homemade diet or supplement, etc that has helped their dog. Thanks so much....

My sister has a 5 year old Miniature Schnauzer that was diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis three years ago; she has discovered that the only food he tolerates is NutriSource Weight Management.

and plain boiled rice. Have heard of others using Slippery Elm
but no experience of it. The chicken n rice bland diet was what
the vet recommended for a bitch of one of my friends that had
pancreatitis. Also have often used it for dogs with other more
simple tummy upsets, always successfully.

Lawfat quark
Carrots
Dandelion
fish oil
In the beginning probiotics
All of this minced
Any cerials don´t seem to help, but to worsen the problem
Dog shouldn´t be overweighed, if it is, a diat would be very helpful, the dog will need enzymes, in Germany we have Pankrex or Kreon, and vitamins like Korvimin.
Very important: Several ( 5 ) smaller meals during the day, fed by normal temperature, never too cold.
I´m no vet, this just helped one of my dogs.
