It took me a week to be able to post this....

With a sad heart I had to say good bye to my sweet beautiful buddy... Ice was only a little over 2 years old. But I loved and cherished every minute with him. He would follow me around while I did my chores.. In his mind he was "helping".... sometimes I had different thoughts...lol. He was a dork thru and thru, but a loving family dog.

Ice had a Transitional Vertebrae as well as an Asymmetric Sacroiliac joint and a significant pelvic tilt along with 2 vertebrae that had narrowing. He had started dripping urine the last couple days as well as would cry out in pain when he bent over to poop. The last couple days my buddy did not have the sparkle in his eye he has always had.. the pain in his lower back was getting to him despite the pain meds. So I made the heartbreaking decision to end his pain. So I held his head and pet him and told him how sorry I was and said good bye.... I owed it to him to be there until the bitter end.

You were not here with me long enough... but in your short life on this earth you taught me alot about myself.. you taught me alot about life in general that I would have never had learned if you had not happened into my life.

I was sent this quote by someone (thank you, because it is oh so true!)....

" Our dogs are with us for a short period of time in our lives. We must enjoy and treasure them and the time we have with them while they are with us, because we never know how short that time may be".

R.I.P my sweet boy ICE.. I will always miss you. May you run pain free at Rainbow Bridge.... and say HI to Aiko, Tonka, Bruno and Quibley for me... I will meet you at the gait someday. Until then behave yourself and dont get into to much trouble..

"How dare you take my picture NOW"...lol

On a side not ----- I want to make it clear, I do NOT want this thread to get side tracked like the "Update on Ice" thread did. I am having a hard enough time with the loss of my buddy and do not want to deal with back and forth bickering. So if anyone feels they want to comment please keep it on track.   THANKS

Dogs live every day to its fullest, given the opportunity. We should do the same. He was fortunate to have you .

What a sad way to end a journey that began with such high hopes and expectations.

I know it is little comfort at a time like this but I'm sure many here have known the emotional toll of losing a best friend at such a young age.

best wishes for you.
