A buyer just gave their pup a Neopar and Neo Vac D at the same time (not what I would have done, nor what I instructed, but what's done is done...). They are on the way to the hospital because his eyes are swelling. To those who use Neotech vaccines regularly: do you administer them separately or the same day, and have you ever had an issue like this? I use Nobivac DPv, as Dr. Dodd's recommends, and have never had an acute reaction like this. This pup did FINE with his initial DPv last month.
Any experiences are appreciated. Thank you.

I use Neotech vaccines and never ever give them together. I've never had a reaction like that either.

Thank you, Judy. I'm a nervous wreck about him. I told her to do Neopar then in 3-4 weeks do the Neovac D OR a combo parvo/distemper and she just figured she could give both together since he was technically "due" for both. The DPv has the identical preservatives that these do, so I am assuming this is a reaction to getting 2ml as opposed to 1ml of them. Poor little guy...I sooo hope he doesn't have lasting effects from this. He was just diagnosed with giardia; I would've waited to do ANY until he was totally healthy and then obviously split them but no one asked me and what's done is done. She meant well (super nice & conscientious owner), just didn't understand the ramifications of doubling vaccines, especially while fighting an illness and I pray he doesn't pay the price.

Well and there you have it. You have probably answered your own question and solved your own problem. Nan

I haven't asked any question that's been solved and there certainly has been no problem solved, lol.
I want to know if anyone has had this from either shot, and regardless of whether they have or have not, if they use these, what is their protocol?

Be on the lookout for kidney problems, endocrine problems, and GI problems even for up to one month. I think this dog will never need another DPV as this type reaction would indicate a full immunoresponse and then some. Might also be a response in conjunction with flea, tick, heartworm meds?? I had a two year old that died from kidney failure due to a reaction to DPV as a puppy. If you see any tooth staining or pitting then that is a bad sign of a DPV reaction. New teeth coming in can have enamel damage and brown staining due to the DPV reaction and this may indicate kidney damage as well as the antibodies which attack the tooth enamel also attack and clog the kidney's tubules. Other collateral damage can include blood in the GI tract, high fever, and mental problems for up to 30 days after vaccination. I spent $700 on an ER visit with my dog Viktor when he was 4 months old from a DPV plus rabies. The ER ran tests and x-rays and declared him perfectly well except for puking his guts out and pooping blood. He developed symptoms caused by the rabies vaccine 1 week after vaccination and it took a month for him to recover. He is six years old and he was never sick a day before the vaccine reaction and never a day since. The ER vets assured me it could not be a vaccine reaction despite there being no other explanation.

Yes, Jen.

He hasn't had any other meds except Panacur, Charles. Thank you, though.
I have already gotten an email together with some immune boosting ideas to hopefully rebound from this. Ugh. I just HATE when assaults happen to underdeveloped immune systems.

This is the kind of thing that drives me nutss with buyers, AND VETS...
Everyone thinks no big deal to give that extra vaccine, at the expense of thhe pup. I have never had that reaction, and I DO use the neo vaccines. I would wait two weeks in between the shots.
This being one of the reasons I reccomend buyers NOT to bring puuppies in within 2weeks of purchase for health check. I KNOW my pups are healthy whhhenn they leave, no need for a vet to revaccinate 2 days after leaving. 9.9 times out of 10 the vet will tell buyer , just to be safe, lets vaccinate, despite my giviing shotIN THE PRESCENnCE of buyer.
It is very frustrating....hope your pup is fine...
