Apparently the flu vaccine for humans used in the USA this year is nearly useless .. about 12-26% effective in doing anything. Also forget all the BS about getting the flu vaccine to make your symptoms less virulent. A young woman about 26 years old and working in a hospital died of the flu after taking this years flu vaccine. Likewise Canadian researchers found that those vaccinated with the flu vaccine in one flu season had MORE virulent symptoms from the prevalent flu strain in the following flu season. Vaccines have a place when used wisely and when their efficacy and safety has been proven. Vaccine manufacturers are sheltered from legal action by those injured or killed by the vaccines used and in many cases the manufacturers are given exclusive rights to manufacture and sell human vaccines .. not much reason to spend money on producing more effective and safer vaccines when competition is squashed and legal liability is minimal. Makes one wonder about the vaccines given to our dogs .. are they proven effective and safe .. and if so who did the testing and when????

I asked my boys pediatrician and she said this year's vaccine was a big fat miss.

When it comes to my pups, I'll take my chances and GIVE the vaccine, esp when it comes to parvo!

Vaccines are useful tools for disease prevention and control when properly used and continuously improved. They are however neither as safe or effective as we the public and pet owners have been told. Over time the use of vaccines will select for either more virulent or additional strains of disease organisms in the target population for vaccination. Vaccines alter the innoculated animal's immune system be they human or canine. Alterations in the immune system can cause lifelong additional and unforseen health problems in the animal vaccinated and in the offspring of the vaccinated animal. More effective and much safer vaccines are needed for humans and animals. The current huge number of vaccinations required for immature humans and animals should be reduced as vaccines can suffer the same fate as antibiotics ( resistance ) if overused. The greater the number of vaccinations given to a human or animal the more likely that new strains of diseases will develop and that dangerous vaccine reactions will occur. The current recommendation that everyone should get the flu shot even though it has been proven inefffective is an example of how committed the public health machine and the vaccine makers are to guarding their secrets and profits.
