I'm currently in the market for a Dremel tool for doing nails.  Which one are folks using and what do you like/dislike about it?  I have a Pedi-paws that I bought several years ago and it is so worthless I don't even use it.  Prefer cordless...

I have the Dremel 3000. It is small enough that it is easily manageable while holding a dog's paw with an easy to use RPM control switch, and it's powerful enough that I can take it to the workshop for more substatial uses as well. The drawback is that it is corded.

I have the Dremel 200-2 speed with cord also, plenty of power for GSD toenails though; and small enough not to be cumbersome.  Nan

I use an old 3000 10 speed Dremel corded. It works great, but when I buy another it will be cordless.

I have a dremel model 800 cordless.  I've had it for many years and it rocks.

I use the corded 200 2 Speed Dremel. I really do not like the fact that it its corded but i took the advise of my sister in-law who is a groomer by trade. She has gone through a bunch of the cordless Dremels and swears they do not last as long and she is replacing her unit every few months.

Dremel 8100 Cordless with Lithium Ion battery. Charges fast and can do 3-4 dogs on one charge. You can also get a rotary shield kit to help block some of the nail dust...

I have an Oster "Gentle Paws" grinder that runs on four AA batteries.

Upsides: It takes standard Dremel-brand attachments so it's easy to find replacement heads for it. It's durable! It's survived many many years of dog nails (and getting knocked off the table by a happy tail). It was inexpensive; so if ever I do have to replace it, I won't be out much money. With replaceable batteries, I'm saved dealing with rechargable batteries that eventually die, and trying to find a replacement for an obsolete model.

Downside: It can go through batteries quite quickly; however I can get through several dogs / sessions before I have to swap them out.

It comes with a removable shield, which I never use for grooming, but I put it on afterwards as a sort of protective cover when it goes back in the grooming box.

We have 10.8 volt codless, varible speed. Works great, charge lasts a very long time. Easy to recharge. Also has many other uses around the  house. However, I would buy it again just for nails.
