I just finished hanging the kennel laundry, when I saw a small bird perched on the clothesline. It was a female goldfinch, and she was plucking dog hairs off the bedding to use for lining her nest!
I tried to snap a picture of her, but never having used my cellphone camera before, I blew it, and she was hidden behind the divider for one of the window panes.
I'm keeping th cell phone handy in case she comes back....

LOL I wish I had birds like that. I've often tried leaving the fluf from a good comb out for the birds to use and noone has ever been interested.

I once knew a woman who had a spinning wheel and several shepherds and would save the hair and make yarn out of it.

We had a Chipping Sparrow make a nest out of our Border Collie's fur. The bird was very bold and would pluck fur right off Lady while she was in her kennel; Lady was so sweet natured that she never seemed to mind.
