If Only - Page 1

I truly wish if only for entertainment value I knew how many here have even half the experience they claim.  It seems daily I hear claims by people on this board who later make statements totally contrary to the experience they claim.  Maybe its just that I don't B.S. enough so as to boast what I do or know.  Rather I try to stay on the side of I would rather go the other way then to exaggerate any claims.  So use this as a come clean board.  What is your experience in training and knowledge of breeding genetics?

My dogs know more about training and genetics... I'm certain of it :-)

I admit openly and freely that when it comes to GSDs I'm as dumb as the proverbial door post.

I know that the more I learn, & I actively seek to learn whenever possible; the more there is to know. My dogs are my teachers, I started learning Schutzhund when my physical limitations began rearing their ugly heads, but I can still learn, & will.

My girl Kali was an amazing teacher, she knew so much & was so willing, she had such an enormous amount of innate knowledge--& she was very generous. She taught me so much. Beckett has also taught me a lot, he's a big, tough, stallion type male, but he is very protective & very deferential to Carl & I, but be careful, anyone else who gives him a correction! It better be fair! My girls are scary smart, & keep me on my toes. All are my teachers.

I have no titles on my dogs, but someday when my health allows, I will....

I am the seventh son of a seventh son of Max Von S. i have this level of communication with dogs such that a biology resesrcher concluded i had an extra lobe on my brain that was of wolf origin. this was later confirmed by MRI scan and mitochondrial DNA analysis. i don't know why i am so effing good i just am. i was trained a pound mutt to solve physics problems. the dang millitary confiscated him as he was working on the algorithms for fully autonomous drone technology. i am also known as a hottie by the ladies. I have a mistress on every continent. but enough about me.

Reggie,  I disagreed with your 2nd post, 'cos I don't believe you are really dumb about

Shepherds.  You might know less than about some other breeds but you are always

first to admit that !   You certainly talk sense about dogs in general.

I'm trying to think of examples I've seen on PDB of people making claims "totally contrary to the

experience they claim" ... and  I really don't recall too many.  Do you have examples ?

We ALL contradict ourselves occasionally, or seem to - its part of being human, I know I

probably do !  - But does that make my (quite extensive) experience in the breed invalid ? Or

anyone elses?

Depending on peoples' actual individual experiences, of breeding litters, facing diseases etc,  we

can come up with some ideas & beliefs based on those, which anybody else would think were nonsense; 

maybe they sometimes are,  but I expect they are honestly held nonetheless.
