I've used the cordless and corded demels, the trick is not not get one too powerful. As they get hot on the nail much faster if you try to grind too long. Also the high speed ones are more likely to damage to you if the dog jerks or moves. I've sanded a few finger down by accident it really hurts. The oster and Petedge ones that are their brand work good too and some come with a little light attachemnt which actually does help. (don't currently see if for sale) https://www.petedge.com/zpetedgemain/catalog/productDetail.jsf?area=PMGT-05-01&sort=TA&wec-appid=PEDM_WEBSHOP_TR&page=72A214C22827430A9795247F1BF064D6&itemKey=005056A633791ED2B58649D534A7EFB3&show=12&view=grid&wec-locale=en_US This thing was a champ got daily use and even got dropped a few times, Always worked.

I also keep a acrylic nail file on hand for quick touch up or dogs who object to the sound of feel of the grinder. It always starts and cost about $1.

Fawn it's the one that looks like round sand paper;  put that on and away you go.  However, be careful as my corded one is pretty high powered and does grind down really fast, takes a little practice but little bits at a time as it can heat up dogs nails;  I grind then tap a little;  then move to next nail, let cool and go back if I have to.  Nan

I think I'm going to try the Dremel 7300-PT...I'll let everyone know how it goes.

Yes, Home Depot has them but it appears to only be sold online with the option to have it shipped to your nearest store.

I use a very old model (+15 years).  As mentioned earlier the key is take it slow as they are powerful units.  Just a few seconds per nail, do a nail, move on, once you are finished with one paw move to next then come back and go again.  Make sure you dont "burn" the nail by staying on it too long.  If that happens the dog will associate it with a bad experience and hide when you pull out the dremel; experience from years ago.  Another tip, stay calm especially the first few times you use it.  If you get frustrated the dog again will associate this with something to be avoided.  Use a marker (treat) at first if your dog responds well to that.
