Two Moons

I hate fleas, not so much a problem here, I hardly run into fleas.

But the ticks !!!!

I had a golden come in with fleas, and I didn't catch it in time. They spread to the springer that was just across from him, and I lost the owner as a customer. She was a good customer, too. She brought the dog in regularly for both boarding and grooming.

Can't afford to have that happen. :(

I decided long ago to never board someone elses dogs, or baby sit...lol

I would think a quarentine area for new incoming animals would be useful.

And the owners permission to treat for parasites, if they don't do it themselves in advance, at a fair price of course.

Now that almost everyone is into the spot-on flea treatments, I rarely have dogs with fleas, thank God! The downside of this is I don't bother checking unless I see excessive scratching!  :(

Do you ask about shots, problems, or treatments in advance?

I know from past experience how quickly fleas can become a problem.

And the extremes required to get rid of them.

Dogs are UTD on shots, or they wouldn't be here, and I just did a flea check on one of them. It was hard to be sure due to the very dark, wirey coat, but I saw none of the usual signs of an infestation.

Both scratch their necks a lot. That's what made me worry about fleas.  I assume now it's probably because they rarely wear collars, which would explain the total lack of any obedience skills. The dog I tied up to a post to check looked at me blankly when I told him to 'sit'!   Roll eyes

From the way they both act when a leash is attached to their collar, I assume the owner either never walks them, or if he does, he's a 300 lb. weightlifter who can easily handle 2 large dogs pulling with all their strength!

Look like some of the ugly Labradoodles i've groomed. But nothing i hate more then a stupid untrained dog or it's dumb owner.......

I don't see Airdale or Weimaraner at all in these two.

Afgan / Wolfhound maybe?

If I'd been able to get a side view, you'd almost think full-blooded Irish wolfhound. Their tails curl over their backs when they are excited, so Afghan or some other Sighthound is a possibility. Will try to get a better photo. As I was in the yard with them when that one was taken, I couldn't get them to stop staring at me!

Oh, and the hair is very wirey, so definitely NOT poodle mixes!

I thought they looked liked Labradoodles as well.  I have a neighbor who has two that act just like how you describe those two, plus they are horribly aggressive, some of the worst dogs in the area (and they have wirey hair).  On the other hand, I have another neighbor who has two wonderful Irish Wolfhounds who are very well behaved; I also think they are larger and bigger boned than the dogs in your photo.
