I am in need of a top young male dog for competition and Police Service Work. Very high drive dog with solid nerves with excellent concentration needed. Please email me at eluke@mts.net for further discussions. Eric LUKE eluke@mts.net

You want a 1 to 2 yr. old to do competition (show?) and police work, that's a huge demand for such a young dog, Not there are not those capable I am sure there are, But mentally that's an awful lot to ask of a 1 yr. old dog, and even a 2 yr. old. Way too pushy for my liking, meaning i would never push a dog to be that hard at that young of an age. Our club is different though and train for Solid dogs, not over nite 30 day wonders. wonder where they're gonna go when the pressure is on, wonder if they'll complete the BH before tucking tail and running off the field, wonder if they'll stand for exam and not bite the judge, See where I'm going... not saying it's right or wrong, but I like the results enough to be patient and continue moving slow, I want a Mountain when I'm done, Not just a rock.

EchoMeadows..... Wow.... I want a dog one to two years old to start a 16 week training program. When I speak of competition I am referring to Police Dog competition and eventual sport titles. (I have done both and done ok in both....)This is to help a dear friend whose dog has become very sick and will probably die within 3 months. The dog will not be pushed too hard, just the opposite. Police work and Competition are the end results not the immediate goal..... I am assuming you can not help me out......Thanks though You can view the "type" of dogs I own and like at our website. Eric, Ohhh that is so sad. I know how hard it is to say goodbye to a longtime friend. My condolenses there. I was not trying to be harsh, and your right, I don't have any that old, I have 2 super drive pups that I am holding back from last litter but they are only almost 4 months. Glad to hear your training is not pushed, as are some in Germany they push hard so they can have all titles done at early ages, but I have seen these imports and I am not impressed, Can't hold a candle to what our club dogs who are not yet titled can do. Strange to me really, I even explored the possible of importing a Sch2 bitch, but after seeing a sch3 male who stumbled through every portion once he was here, I halted the ill thought idea, did some more homework and found this to be a most common reaction from pushed young dogs. Also have seen the difference in traiing, Those dogs bite or get bit they use alot of defensive type training methods, and rather than rewards for obedience, harsh corrections for mistakes are the normal. Again not saying it's right or wrong, just not my style. Well I'm off to see your site... am excited to see it and Thank You for the link ! :-) Ohhh and I see where my misunderstanding was.. You said you wanted a dog to "work" you did'nt say "train" but I should have known better. Sorry bout that. Good luck with your search. :-)

Echomeadows, you are comparing apples with oranges. Most police dogs enter service around one year, go through their training program and then go out and work. That is pretty standard. They do not have to work for points so accuracy is not important. Just effectiveness. Accuracy and precision in the sport is what creates the pressure, not just the fact that they have to do the work. But lots of dogs can handle even a lot of pressure at a young age. Last years BSP Nr3 dog was just under 2 1/2 years, already had 10! titles under his belt by that time, this years BSP Sieger is also only 2 1/2 years. A show dog that is trained and titled 'just' to get the titles for show purposes and then do not get worked much after (if you don't use it you loose it) cannot be compared to a dog that has been tested and selected for K9 or top sport purposes.

Echo... I agree with DH...apples and oranges! Eluke...You might also want to check out EurosportK9 http://www.eurosportk9.com/forsale.asp I know a couple people who purchased young dogs from them and they are very impressed. They have an outstanding puppy training program for their pups they hold back for foundation training to be sold at an older age (explained on their site). My dog was imported by them, and I couldn't be happier, honest people, great dogs. Good luck, Melanie
