Hello everyone,
Evrytime I see a Wallace Agrigento in any top rated dog's pedigree I just dont understand why this dog did not do well in shows. I think he won SG6 in BSZS and that is all. He did not win any rating after he became adult. I think he has one of the most impressive progeny group in the history of GSD. Very few dogs have left there mark on male as well as female progeny. Wallace is one such dog who is consistently producing superb dogs. Is it that he himself was not a good mover or not good in the ring but that is not the case as he has won SG6 which is quiet a achievement.Or did he meet with an accident which prevented him from entering the shows. His breeder and owner is quiet influential and respected person so politics can not keep him away from top place. Please if someone has any idea let me know.
There are few more dogs that did not make it big in shows despite of superb progeny- baru haus Yu, Quentin Karnaberg, etc

Even if you discard Progeny though Quentin has good progeny, Quentin karanberg is a superbly confirmed GSD and is a very good mover! and Politcs is what has kept him back!

Anu, Agreed Quentin did not do well beacause of politics. But I dont think that is the case with Wallace. Any guesses for Wallace.

Wallace is owned by Sweikert who judged the females for so many years that it was impossible to show this dog. Wallace has produced some nice dogs but how does his progeny compare with dogs like Ursus, yasko, Baru, Quentin? I think politics is what made Wallace the producer he was. He got all the best females and all the females that went VA out of him were being judged at the seiger show by his owner. TO me his progeny wasn't isnt so great when you compare how many top top females he got bred to. Just my opinion though. I would love to hear what others think of what he produced as well.

cedddy,
I loked at the progeny of Wallace. It is not all that bad. And about the point mentioned by you that his breeder was judge so females came up well it is valid and also unvalid because the same blame is put on Mr. Hermann Martin and recently on Erich Orchsler as well. May be that will explain why Ursus and only Ursus line is promoted after 2000. Anway these allegations have no end and unfair also. Because all these dogs are top producers indeed. The reason that his breeder had no time to show him is not correct because he must be having team to handle his dogs. Must be some other reason. Any other explaination please.

Sumo,
a judge officiating at the BSZS is not permitted to enter a dog, either owned or co-owned by him.
If you found Arminius or Batu dogs shown while their breeders had a judging assignment at this event, I guarantee you that these dogs were not owned or co-owned by them at that particular time.

Anyone know Agrigentos web site - homepage?

Silbersee,
That means Wallace did not get chnace because Mr. Shweikert was Judge for so long at the particular time. Well that is good enough reason to beleive.
As far as if some judge really wants to promote his dog he can enter the dog in the name of Dummy owner. Because this year also Orbit won VA3 though Heinz Sheerer was the Judge. So many Arminius dogs won top places despite Mr. Hermann Martin being the Judge for argument it is okay to say that the owner was diferent at the particular time. But afterall when breeder is Judge natuarally soft corner for his bred dog is got to be there. Anyway that is different topic altogether.

It is all politic you know that as well as the rest of us.It plays a big role in Germany if you know some one (judge) you got some favorable standing and that can work well for you.A friend of mine knows someone who is doing the fall test in Northern Virginia and the Judge is staying with the kennel owner hmmm.I wonder how that person comes out with her/his dogs.
