I have to say goodbye my dear
You've been with me for many a year
You've loved me so without reserve
Your memory now I must preserve
As you wait for me at heaven's gate
Please forgive this final fate
No options to resolve the strive
Appeared in time to save your life
So rest in peace my pretty one
I think of you often, now you're gone.

My condolences redcap...very sad.
"We have a secret you and I,
That no one else shall know,
For who but I can see you lie,
Each night, in fireglow?
And who but I can reach my hand
Before I go to bed,
And feel the living warmth of you
And touch your silken head?
And only I walk woodland paths,
And see, ahead of me,
Your small form racing with the wind,
So young again, and free!
And only I can see you swim
In every brook I pass.
And, when I call, no one, but I
Can see the bending grass.

GODS PUPPY
I will lend to you for awhile, a German Shepherd pup, God said,
For you to love him while he lives and mourn for when he's dead.
Maybe for twelve or fourteen years, or maybe two or three,
But will you, 'till I call him back, take care of him for me?
He will bring his charms to gladden you and (should his stay be brief)
You'l always have his memories as solace for your grief.
I cannot promise he will stay, since all from earth return,
But there are lessons taught below I want this pup to learn.
I've looked the whole world over in search of teachers true,
And from the folk that crowd's this earth I have chosen you.
Now will you give him all your love, nor think the labour vain?
Nor hate me when I doth come to take him back again?
I fancied then I heard you say "Dear Lord Thy Will be Done,"
For all the joys this pup will bring, the risk of grief i'l run.
I'l shelter him with tenderness and love him while I may,
And for the happiness we've shared, forever grateful stay.
But should God call my Shepherd back much sooner than I'd planned,
I'l brave the bitter grief that comes and try to understand.
If by my love I've managed, your wishes to achieve
Memories of him I loved, will help me while I grieve,
And when my faithful bundle, departs this world of strife,
I'l have another Shepherd Pup and love him all his life.

Parting is such sweet sorrow but there are those who need you now to give them bright tomorrows.
Sympathies Redcap, now your heart must reach out to the next Shepherd Pup just waiting for a loving owner.
Best Regards

redcap in the same situation someone sent me this
If it be Igrow frail and weak,
And pain should wake me from my sleep.
Then you must do what must be done.
For this last battle can't be won.
You will be sad I understand.
Don't let your grief then stay your hand.
For this day more than all the rest.
YOUR LOVE and friendship stand the test
We've had so many happy years.
What is to come will hold no fears,
you'll not want me to suffer so.
When the time comes please let me go.
I know in time you will see.
It is a kindness you do for me.
Although my tailit's last has waved,
From pain and suffering I've been saved.
Do not grieve that it should be you,
Who has to decide this thing to do,
We've been so close we two these years,
Don't let your heart hold any tears

Oh how sad it is to lose one of our friends. Very sorry for your loss, Redcap. My best boy has been gone for almost 5 years and I still miss him something terrible.

A Poem written In loving memory of our beloved Pet Reiner - Always remembered, Never replaced
Did You Ever Know You Were our Hero ?
-------------------------------------
A tree we've planted in your name,
And scattered all your ashes.
In the hope the hurt we feel inside,
Will subside as each day passes.
for we loved you darling Reiner,
Much more than words can say.
You were 'Our First' so in our hearts
You have a 'Special' place.
We've so much more to thank-you for,
Than you could ever know.
You left behind two broken hearts,
Who have lost their super Hero.
And at the end we both were there,
As you took your final sigh.
We're grateful Reiner, for giving us
The time to say Good-bye.
God Bless and Keep you Faithful Friend,
Until the day we meet again.
In loving memory of our beloved Pet Reiner
Always remembered, Never replaced
