This will be followed by practical work in the field for the dogs on Tracking, Control & Protection under Alans expert guidance. Dogs and handlers dont need to have any experience. Spectators will be able to ask questions at all times.
This Seminar is NOT for the experienced Sports Dog Fans its aimed at those who want to understand the system and the requirements in fact anyone who wants to learn about the WUSV system.

Any chance of doing this further north?

Carol and I have been active in the German arena for some 5 years now not the first we know (others have been there, done that & got millions of t-shirts!). Showing in this environment opened our eyes to the true potential of the GSD and we quickly found out about the amount of work and commitment required. We had to learn on our feet and very quickly. The WUSV system is NOT perfect, but its better than anything else weve got. On our journey of discovery we found that there are many, many misconceptions about what is/is not required. The Sport of Schutzhund, for example, has different priorities to the Qualifier in Schutzhund for Breed purposes. What our seminar does is try to answer the many questions that people want to ask, and then to give a practical demonstration of how you can go about it. We believe that we are answering a need and the response to the two seminars has been such that we fully intend to continue the programme. We can afford to have these seminars at what we believe is an affordable price because they are held at our own premises and overheads are kept to an absolute minimum. In addition this type of seminar requires quite a lot of equipment which is to hand at our premises, and we cannot forget things such as insurance.
So when I saw the post on the message board I was interested. We have had people attending our first seminar who travelled 8 hours to be with us as well as those who lived down the road. We have had raw beginners (both dogs and handlers), experienced handlers with beginner dogs and beginner handler with experienced dogs. According to the feed back we got all gained something of value from the day and would travel this distance again to participate and indeed are doing so at the second seminar. So, the answer to the post is:- yes, we would happily travel with the seminar north, south, east or west, but it would almost certainly be more expensive and we would be highly dependant on a local person organising the event to the same standard as we have here, this would have to include arranging for tracking land, a lecture room with projector and arranging the catering. However if the demand is great enough and we have someone prepared to arrange the above we will be happy to travel further a field.
