This is a general question to all of you more experienced UK exhibitors. I have rapidly become aware that there is no point in showing a german style bitch in a show that favours english type. How do you know (prior to wasting my entry fee) which shows are german and which are english? As I haven't been to every show, I'm stumbling in the dark. Help!

First of all look to see who the judge is. Obviously, if you are new to showing, the names wont mean a lot to you, so ask around on forums for oppinions on the judges preference. There is usually an affix given with the name of the judge, research the affix/kennel on the internet, most have websites, look at their stock. Search for previous shows they have judged at, to see what 'type' are entered the judge. Visit websites of breeders/owners of the Germanic type, view their 'Results' pages, see what shows they have entered in the past. You will soon get to know the names of the shows and judges. Some will list a diary of forthcoming shows for the year.
