Would like to solicit some advice and recommendations on the purchase a true Working Line male for family/personal protection. I currently live in Europe (Italy) and am having trouble locating a credible breeder(US or Italy), thus would prefer to go directly to Germany where the pedigree is more strictly controlled, a middleman is not getting ridiculously paid to simply import the animal, and the frequency of a breeder discarding exceptionally inferior animals is not as high. Now, I know credible breeders exist out there (didn't intend to offend), but the plethora of less than appropriate puppy-money factories simply makes the search extremely daunting, frustrating, and most importantly risky. And unfortately, thus far I equate the risky aspect to the purchase of car (new or used) and loath the car salesman scenario.
Thank you in advance for constructive assistance.

Contact SV Judge Uwe Stolpe at www.dogtrainer.de His English is good and he's very reliable. He has a titled female for sale at the moment but I'm sure he would be most happy to try and help you.
As far as importing a dog through a breeder here in the US Steve Lino at vom Linmarc kennels www.vomlinmarc.com is 200% plus trustworthy and you will get the highest quality of dog.
Keith Mitchell of www.mayanser.com in the UK has some great breeding stock and is also honest and reliable.
I'm currently waiting on a World Class Working Litter to be whelped in a week. Although I think you are looking for a titled male.
There are many credible breeders in Germany but I am more familiar with the DDR breeders. The people above I know personally and professionally.
Hope this could help you out some.

Hi, I'm from Malaysia. It is nice of some of you to give some reliable breeders' contacts to Wardie on his search for good workingline pedigree.
Some exhibitionists and breeders in Malaysia also import dogs & bitches form Germany, but the imported GSDs are rather limited in choices and qualities are above average.
I'm wondering whether the breeders mentioned earlier are also into showlines dogs & bitches who are titled and have working ablities. Would appreciate some referrals if any.

It's a concern to me to recommend Hans Bodenmeier, the breeder and handler of really outstanding Schutzhund and protection dogs. In our club we have a couple of great dogs and I know different handlers who changed back from malinois to GSD's out of this kennel. Because I am many years in dogsport and know so much people that's why I have to say he is a very experienced, honest and trustworthy breeder, handler, trainer and dealer.
He has a wealth of knowledge, experience and relationships, which provides him access to the finest German Shepherds available.
Should you have any dog requirments please feel free to contact him.

I can add to the comment on Uwe Stolpe, he is totally trustworthy and speaks very good english, he is a GSD man through and through, I have bought several dogs through Uwe and we are now confirmed friends. I have also bought from Jozef mvarik at www.eurosportK9.com they are in Slovakia. I think Uwe has a litter of pups from Fax on the ground at the moment.
May I wish you the best of luck in your search for a good GSD.
