Why was there no video? Read earlier that there wasn't one allowed??? If so, at whose instruction?

by k9chess on 04 June 2006 - 06:06

The judges!!!

by jettasmom on 04 June 2006 - 13:06

Right before the breed survey started alot of people were getting there videos and cameras ready, at that point the judge told everyone no videos and cameras allowed.

<<<< at that point the judge told everyone no videos and cameras allowed>>> That's the stupidest thing I ever heard. Judges do not have a say as to whether you video tape or not. The only one would be the property owner, maybe. Judges are there to judge the performance of the dog that day. not who has cameras, videos, where spectators are seated etc. etc. Uwe

Uwe, if this is the stupidest thing you ever heard, then you need to contact the judge to let him know. I was there. I put my own camera away at the JUDGE'S request. DTW

The judge did tell everyone to put their cameras and video recorders away --- I was there.

I'm not saying that it didn't happen, I'm sure it did. Did anyone bother saying "No" to him. Curious? Who was the Judge.

i try not in my posts to be negative or critical -- similarily i am very grateful to Schutzhund for introducing me to canine sports -- but -- and i know many of you get emmotional -- there is just to much gone astray with sch -- did i understand correctly -- no filmimg ?? the judge didn't allow filming ?? what is that about ?? -- i can't but help think -- why /why not ?? in our sports you can and are welcomed to film the clinics before the trials for those that want help -- all the trails are filmed !! -- what is the problem ? forgive me for my forgetfulness but is filming against the rules ?? filming events is one avenue that we learn as a club / sport member to better ourselves /our dogs and to learn how to make the next event even better -- and in sch -

Keep in mind this was a breed test, not a Schutzhund trial. I have seen before a video used to show a dog in a negative way. I don't know about this breed test, but many times it is show dogs trying to make it through by the skin of their teeth. I don't know why the Judge took this position, but my first guess would be to prevent competiting breeders from bashing the dogs taking the test. If this happens too often, people will quit doing breed test. This would be my guess to the Judge's reasons.

Wow, we always film our dogs at the trials, it is the only way I get to see what I did wrong. I didn't know that the judge could mandate no filming, I guess that I would just have to ask, what is the judge trying to hide? For us, this is a family sport, we don't have kids to go watch, our family movies consist of dogs. Further, our dogs are all HOT and I love to see the progression of skills in the dogs and myself. Is this a common occurance? Lorri
